Well done to the Naomh Fionnbarra/Lannleire minor team who beat Glen Emmets in the Division 3 League on a scoreline of 2-14(20) to 3-7 (16) in Darver on Wednesday 2nd November! Up the Barrs
Development: Work continued on the upgrade of the walking/running track around the field. Fine gravel dust blinding is down on all of the track and has been levelled. The blinding now needs to be rolled. We pulled down the front wall of the stand. Tidied up below the stand leaving approximately 50m rough training area and built up a sprint hill in bottom corner. Theres still a pile of clay to be moved over to dugout side. Bit of tidy up work undertaken behind clubrooms in preparation for containers being moved and a bit of tidy up work of car park done aswell. Lighting poles have being sourced but it will probably be another week or two before these are in place. Well done to everyone who got their hands dirty and put in the time over the weekend. The hard work is much appreciated and hopefully the track will be ready for action soon.
The club would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Pat Callan, Ballygassan, who passed away recently. Pat was a lifelong supporter of the Barrs and will be sorely missed. May he Rest In Peace.

U21 final
Cooley Kickhams won the louth under-21 championship for the first time since the early 1980’s. They produced a commanding performance to dispose of a hotly fancied Geraldines team who were minor champions with this group in 2013 on a score line of 3-7 to 0-8. Cooley got off to the quicker start going 2 points to nil up before the Geraldines rallied and won two frees which they dispatched to tie up the game. Cooley responded with anther point before the Geraldines took the lead for the only time in the game scoring from another two frees. At this point Cooley struck with two quick fire goals to take a 9-4 lead. Just before the break the Geraldines registered their first score from play to leave the half time score 2-3 to 0-5.
Following the restart the Geraldines converted another free to leave it a 3 point game but Cooley’s display of skill and cohesion coupled with their tremendous work rate allowed them to keep the Gers at arms length for the remainder of the match. When the Gers again closed the gap a few positional and tactical changes allowed cooley to break quickly and tag on further scores, one of which was an expertly taken goal which followed some exceptional defending and a quick transition from defence to attack.
All in all the management team must have been very satisfied as every player contributed in their own way to the win. A special mention must go to the captain Peter Thornton who played through the pain barrier and lead by example to guide the team to victory.
It must be noted that of the panel of 23 used throughout the tournament only 2 are ineligible next year and 15 have come from the current minor team. Indeed 3 of those who played last night are illegible to play minor again next year. Hopefully these player can drive on and force their way into the clubs senior team in the years to come.
Panel Sean Hayes, Luke White, Conor Kenny, Dylan McGarrity, Paddy Hanlon, Dean McGreehan, Rowan Quinn, James Loughran, Peter Thornton, Fearghal Malone, Thomas McGuinness, Eoin McDaid, Emmet Rogan, Jake McShane, Michael Carron, Alex Woods, Christopher McGuinness, Craig McGuinness, Sean McGrane, Ronan Sheelan, Daniel Hanlon, Nicholas Rafferty, Kevin Murphy, James O Reilly.

U21
On Friday night Cooley Kickhams over came a strong Mattock Rangers/Hunterstown Rovers/ Glen Emmetts
amalgamation
on a score line of 1-14 to 1-12 to reach the under-21 championship final. Played on Collon’s new field the
home team started brightly registering the first score. However Cooley then came to life and through solid defensive work, collective team work-ethic and some clinical shooting the went in at half time winning 0-9 to 0-2. Indeed some the scores exhibited all
that is great within the game; strong tackling, quick movement, excellent support & decision making and superb skill execution. As expected the south Louth lads came out strong in the second half and gradually ate away at the deficit through some good team
play and some poor decision making on Cooley’s part. To the lads credit they hung in there and worked some scores when the opportunities came. In the 24th minute they relinquished the lead for the first time since the opening minute. They drew level but again
the opposition pointed twice with regular time up. At this point they display terrific resilience and composure to create a scoring opportunity which was expertly dispatched to the net. Not content and with the lift of the goal they worked another attack,
winning a free which they converted to put 2 in it. The relief and elation was evident at the final whistle. It was a reverse of last years semi final when a late goal sunk Cooley. Great credit must go to these lads who really enjoy representing the club.
They now await the winners of the Geraldines and St. Fechins who play on Monday night. The final is expected to be played next Saturday but not official confirmation yet.
Cooley Kickhams u21 Panel Sean Hayes, Dylan Mc Garrity, Conor Kenny, Craig Mc Guinness, Patrick Hanlon, Dean
Mc Greehan, Eoin Mc Daid, James Loughran, Peter Thornton, Fearghal Malone, Thomas Mc Guinness, Rowan Quinn, Emmet Rogan, Jake Mc Shane, Michael Carron, Alex Woods, Sean Mc Grane, Daniel Hanlon, Christopher Mc Guinness, Ronan Sheelan, Kevin Murphy, Joesph Quinn,
