here’s who I’d like to see in the starting XV

FBL
Dessie is back in the squad this week and in contention for selection but our full back line performed admirably against Fermanagh. So, for continuity alone they will all keep their place.
This is a real boost to Kelly as it was highly inexperienced line but they came through with flying colours Patrick Reilly especially.
Clare’s full forward Shane Brennan is a similar type player to Sean Quigley target man but he lacks his scoring touch but makes up for it in mobility. Reilly should be able to handle him.
Kevin Toner in marking David Tubridy the Divisions top scorer so far with 10 points, faces his toughest test. Interesting to see how he gets on.

HBL
If the Toner marking job doesn’t go well, Pop might well have to switch back into pick up Tubridy. That’s one of reasons for picking him right half.
The change also allows Pop to go forward and Dessie to come back into the side. His physical presence at centre back will be very welcome.

Crilly continues his sweeping role and he’ll be busy as Clare don’t rely on a full forward target man solely, they have plenty of options inside for Derek to cover. Tough job but Crilly’s the man to do it.

We’ll look to keep a cleansheet again this Sunday and I have confidence in that defence we will.

MF
Decie and Bevan was our trusted partnership in the O’Byrne cup and it was the partnership we ended the game the other night with. They should start on Sunday on that basis alone.
Hindsight is a fucker and in reality it was a risky midfield we went with last Saturday night and it cost us and Gallys place.
Eoin O’Connor can start on the wing and drift into the middle to help us out in that department and he can focus on going forward which suits him and he can do, do great effect. Scored an excellent point before being black carded.

FL
Grimes starts. we need his presence and ball winning ability inside and Burnsy needs him to work off him also.
They could form a great relationship if they get the right ball.
On paper a Very Exciting combination altogether.

Colm Judge on the back of his first start of the year will be stronger on Sunday. Ruairi Moore makes up the other half forward they have the energy needed to cover the ground and counter. Due to the workload they will not be expected to last the full 70 minutes and on my team we have the options coming off the bench to see the game out.

THE BENCH
Our options were lacking against Fermanagh and made no impact really and to be fair, there was a number of debutants that were introduced.
Maguire/Donnelly/Danny O’Connor gives us some real impact off the bench. Experienced players and Hopefully Gerry hoey will be back in the squad for selection also. Huge plus and possible game changers.
Durnin / Stewart/ Williams/ Kirwan/ Brodign also provides cover if we want something different also.
We have depth 9 players in total that could come in and do a job and our bench now covers a variety of area’s that’s a positive for Sunday and going forward.

Final words
I’ve mentioned the Fermanagh game alot in this post and it was the basis of my selections.
That’s the thing about the league we’ll have learned tons about ourselves this week moreso after a loss and thankfully we don’t have to wait to get a chance to try them out.
That team is more than good enough to beat Clare!

Roll on Sunday!!

What do you reckon??

This sunday will test us surely….Reilly and Dessie could swap if he’s not able for Brennan and he might be more comfortable out there anyway.

McGinn is out of favour by the looks of it!

Should have been watching about 25th min of second half,no 14 went the whole way out to the half way line and Mr Reilly followed him all the way.A few Louth supporters sitting close to me were even commenting about it.
That game is in the past now and we will all welcome Dessie back but I fear for our back line if we come up against any sort of quality forwards,I think all the subs that came on played very well & deserve a chance,I think McGinn should also be given a chance even if it was in around the middle.

I didn’t see the No14 leave the square to be honest and he scored the same amount as Louth on the night…hardly rubbish!

Our problems were out the field not the fullback line.

Interesting to see where Dessie comes in…the team is named tonight I think!

Nice to see Dessie back but I think he should go straight into the full back spot.On Saturday night our back line was pulled and dragged all over the place espically the ctr full back,at one stage he even followed the Fermanagh number 14 (who lets face it was total rubbish) into his own half of the pitch leaving gaping holes at the back. Both our keepers played very well & it’s thanks to them that we did not concede any goals.
