7.30pm in NewtownCashel club in Longford
LouthandProud will be there.
Here’s my Preview
Colin Kelly said after Sundays win that this game is the biggest game in Louth football and he is right. We are one step away from a Leinster semi final and winning two games in a row at this age level which hasn’t been done since we reached the leinster final under Kelly in 2012!
Longford will bring a more round obstacle than Carlow did last Wednesday night and the fact we have to travel midweek will also be a factor.
In the last round Longford romped to a 4-13 to 1-5 victory over Wicklow in Newtowncashel.
So they have a win under their belts, in the same venue we’ve never played in before.
It will be tough no doubt about it…
They have seven starters that played last year and two players who came off the bench who also played last year.
Our forwards can not allow their defenders to go forward at ease and build attack like they did against Carlow.
Conor Shields (above) got forward from defence the last day for Longford and scored a goal.
If we are as porous at the back as we were the last day we will struggle.
Dangermen
Luckily Eoghan Lafferty will know their topscorer and left footer Larry Moran, (below)
as they both won an All-Ireland Freshers medal with UCD.
Rory Connor (above) won a Sigerson Cup with DCU and Liam Connerton is a dangerous wing forward.
David McGivney is a player Louth must look out for too. The 19 year old played minor in their win against us last year.
Verdict
To advance, we will look to James Stewart and Wayne Campbell to provide the workrate and cover around the middle of the field to pick up any loose runners from the Longford defence.
All in all, it will take a collective effort as our defence needs to be protected and we need to let the forwards operate in as much space as they can.
We have the scoring power to do the job anywhere, in any conditions.
Especially and Hopefully tonight!
LouthandProud will be there and there will also be Live match feed so tune in folks
