First of my bumper previews this weekend
The Clans is the place to be tonight UPDATED
First Game is off
Floodlit games always add to the occasion and tonight will be no different!
LouthandProud’s dark horses Fechins face Mochta’s in tonight’s headline act.
The Fechins come into this game with a great deal of confidence having won both league games in the break not only have won these games but they’ve also gone top of Division 2. So momentum firmly with the south Louth side.
Key Match UP
Whoever picks up Decie Byrne.
We know the Moch’s heavily rely on Decie everyone does so who will the Fechins put on him? because it’s easier said than done!
Decie plays in the middle does Bevan Duffy pick him up?…Decie at full forward Collier and McDonnell be given the task?
Verdict
Hard to look past Division 2 toppers Fechins who also look to really have gotten their sh*t together this season under Thomas MacNamee.
RESULT
Fechins get over the line.just. winning 1-8 to 9
First up see’s Dundalk side Sean O’Mahony’s face last years Finalists Brides.
Purely on league position (7th Div1) Many would feel the O’Mahony’s will come away with the win at ease but the Brides are battle hardened and have got their American exiles back on board during the break after the group stages so they now be well equipped literally for battle.
Key Match UP
Paddy Reilly/JOBser Could be an epic clash of county men whoever gains advantage could swing it for either team. Reilly on the Forty will look to dictate and set up Hoey and hearty inside while John at centre back is O’Mahony’s driving force.
Fascinating to see how Reilly copes with a pacy halfback and JOBser with a dangerous forty yards man he’ll have to pick up tightly.
Verdict:
I think the SOM’s have something about them this season but do they have anyone to mark Hoey inside? They may have to sacrifice Peter Nixon at midfield to go back.
